Most of us as contractors have already told our customers that the change is taking place for our area soon. What am I talking about you say? New Federal Regulations start May 1, 2013. What does this mean to you? Well the switch in the furnace market from 80% and below to the more efficient 90% and above. The fact is that natural gas prices have gone up. If you have looked at your gas bill recently it has increased by some 79% since May of this year. So what are some things you can do right now to save you some money this fall and winter?
(1) Have your furnace maintained, cleaned checked by a professional (ME)
(2) Replace that old HVAC system with an 80% or 90% before the 1 May 2013 deadline.
(3) Keep your thermostat at a lower temperature maybe 65 or 68 degrees.
(4) Get a programmable Thermostat installed by a professional (ME)
These are just a few things that you can do to help make sure what system you have now is performing to its design.
